You Spoke, We Listened: Plan Updates Are Here

Thank you, Kendall County, for your thoughtful and insightful feedback on the draft Comprehensive Plan! Since releasing the first draft in February, we’ve heard from County staff, Steering Committee members, stakeholders, Open House attendees, and residents. Your input has been invaluable in helping us refine and strengthen the plan.

We participated in the County’s Annual Meeting, three Steering Committee meetings, and hosted five Open Houses. We carefully reviewed every comment and have incorporated your ideas into a series of meaningful updates. The updated draft plan is now ready for you to explore.

Key Updates Include:

  • Added a Local Regulations section to Chapter 8: Implementation
  • Conducted updated population projections
  • Refreshed the renewable energy site database
  • Expanded definitions for future land use categories
  • Researched municipal boundary agreements and created a new map
  • Included additional details on the Kendall County Broadband Project
  • Strengthened strategies for trail and solar farm development
  • Updated the Scenic Routes inventory
  • Revised Future Land Use, Economic Development, Alternative Energy, and Transportation maps based on feedback
  • Improved map layouts for better readability
  • Completed a comprehensive document review and edits

What’s Next?

The updated plan will be presented at a public hearing before the Regional Plan Commission on April 22 at 7pm at the Kendall County Office Building at 504 S. Main Street in Yorkville. The meeting will be on the 2nd Floor in the County Board Room. Following the Committee’s recommendation, the plan will advance to the County Board for final consideration and adoption. Stay tuned!
