Kendall County has published the first draft of its Comprehensive Plan.

The draft reflects feedback gathered through public surveys, an interactive mapping tool, five open houses, a pop‑up event, and interviews with taxing districts, municipalities, and other key stakeholders. Guidance from County staff, the steering committee, and the regional plan commission also informed the work.

The draft plan sets forth four key vision elements that will guide the future development in Kendall County over the next 10-20 years:
Preserve Rural Character
Preserve Natural Areas; Farmland Preservation
Promote Economic Development
More local, good paying jobs; Enhance and Diversify the Tax Base; Promote Tourism, including Agritourism
Communications / Coordination
Engage residents; Governmental coordination between County, Towns, and Townships
Connectivity
Expand Trail Network; Connect roads/Improve intersections
Residents and partners are encouraged to review the document and share feedback on the proposed vision, goals, and objectives, as well as future directions for land use, economic development, transportation, utilities, and parks and recreation. Please note that Chapter 8 is still being refined; at this time, we are seeking input on the remaining chapters of the plan.
