Music, food, a car show… what could make National Night Out even better? Talking about the future of Kendall County!
On August 6 the project team joined the fun at Kendall County’s National Night Out to hear directly from residents and visitors about their ideas, hopes, and concerns for Kendall County’s future.
The booth featured two interactive boards: one inviting written comments on what people want to see in Kendall County, and another with a county map where visitors marked places of interest using colorful stickers. We’d like to extend a big thank you to everyone who stopped by and shared their thoughts!

Through these conversations, we gathered valuable insights about what matters most to the community. Here are some of the key ideas we heard:
- Preserve farmland and protect the County’s agricultural heritage
- Improve education quality by building more schools and reducing class sizes
- Enhance dining options with more chain restaurants and high-quality grocery stores
- Diversify tax revenues to reduce the burden of residential property taxes
- Extend Metra service to Kendall County
- Boost student safety with more crossing guards and clearly marked crosswalks
- Support seniors by developing more affordable housing options
- Expand parks and recreation, including waterparks, playgrounds, and YMCAs
- Protect the Fox River with more recreational spaces and amenities
- Improve trails and connectivity with a safer, more extensive trail network and pedestrian signage
